International Thunderbird Club
The International Thunderbird Club was formed in October 1993 during a meeting of approximately 37 members in the little town of Hazelton, PA. The club was formed as a universal Thunderbird Club open to the wide spectrum of all Thunderbirds produced from1955 to Present from Stock to Modified, Daily Drivers to Show Cars. Most importantly this club with its wide range of Thunderbird variations was and still is dedicated to fun.
The group that originated the firm coined the phrase that this club was created by serious people just for fun and that underlying theme continues today. This is a Family oriented Club with many activities provided either directly through the firm or one of its 19 Regional Chapters. They are always looking for additional members and new chapters to add to the great base that has been started, not only in the US and Canada but anywhere in the world where there are Thunderbird Enthusiasts.
Membership in the firm has its privileges new members receive the most recent copy of the club publication, the Thunderbird Script, a Welcome Letter, membership card, and windshield decal. They have broken the cars out into groups of which each owner has the opportunity to select which group they would like to enter their car into. The groups consist of showcase, display only, touring modified, touring, formal, and senior formal.
The International Thunderbird Club is starting a new program to get in touch with American Ford, and more precise Thunderbird owners, around the world. They want to promote their club to a broad audience of car enthusiasts and at the same time build an international friendship. They are a family of Thunderbird owners, with currently 19 chapters and over 900 members in 8 countries. They accept all years of Thunderbirds, have their own award-winning magazine, and host a yearly international convention, which in August 2005 will be held in Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA.
